A Bespoke Kitchen at Bank House
In harmony with the surrounding countryside, this bespoke kitchen sits in an 18th-century Cotswold Stone House, welcoming views over immaculate clipped hedges, lawns, and pathways leading to a walled kitchen garden and orchard.
In collaboration with Robert Young Antiques, our brief was to create a warm and comfortable kitchen for no-nonsense cooking and eating, while incorporating an antique table with hanging batterie de cuisine above and existing four-oven Aga. Robert discovered four antique lanterns with the copper Verdigris cleverly reflecting the green from the garden. A sensible fridge and generous larder for dry foods were essential, along with willow baskets for home-grown vegetables.
When configuring the design, permission was given to remove a significant central post, opening the space and allowing views and light to be enjoyed. External walls were utilised to make the whole room work more cohesively, allowing the double sink cupboard to be centred in front of a wide, shuttered window with a boarded panel to finish the back of the cupboard neatly. Our bespoke Spitalfields cupboards are painted a leafy green to reflect the atmosphere of the garden, boasting elegant Hanbury doors with a delicate quirk to Oak drawers and accented with Antique Brass handles and knobs. A combination of drawers and cupboards to store all necessary kitchen items, sitting politely beneath crisp marble worktops. A room with a view! Perfect to best enjoy the rolling seasons. A true labour of love, the garden now provides plentiful vegetables and fruits for the family table.
